Do you know what Wii Games MMORPG’s Are?

June 9, 2009 · Filed Under Tech News · Comment

Massive Multiplayer Online Role Playing Games or MMORPG’s as they are more commonly known, are role playing games which bring together large numbers of players via the Internet.

A defining feature of MMORPG’s is that they all offer a persistent virtual world in which to play.  These worlds often support thousands of simultaneous players, all of whom are playing a single character in the game.

What Does This Mean To You when Playing Wii?
In a Wii games MMORPG you take control of a character (often known as an avatar) and guide its actions with the Wii game controller. Most games have an experience based level, that means that a player must kill a monster & be guided through certain task, so their ability will increase in return. This is usually represented by an overall skill level associated to the character, and sub levels representing individual skills.

Just like the worlds are persistent, you skills are saved, meaning that the effort & time you put into your game is permanently reflected in your character.

For example if you played a combat orientated game your overall ability to fight may be represented by a Combat Level – this level would increase each time you gained a pre-determined number of experience points, granting more powerful abilities and skills.  When you logout of the Wii game everything is remembered so next time you play you can start from where you left off.

Online
As MMORPG’s connect thousands of players with the same virtual world central game servers provide a synchronized experience for everybody. It means that if you kill a monster it will vanish from your screen along with everyone else’s.

Real time chat is usually available, typed messages can be displayed to other players in and round your location.Duels and team work are common for MMORPG’s. They also allow trade between the players.

They Can Play As A Group
One of the benefits of playing an MMORPG is that every system is compatible so they players can play together..That can mean that you team up to tackle difficult enemies or you pull together your resources so that you can advance the goals of your team. These groups are either guilds or clans.

Games Inside Other Games
The MMORPGS let the players that have separate paths to follow literally define the world that they are playing in.  This includes many items within games being created by the players themselves using gathered resources.

This is called Crafting and it is a popular alternative to playing combat orientated character.Crafters are usually very wealthy in game assets and would rather sell their goods for game currency or other item than dominate physically.

Wii Online or Offline?
Offline games are great for relaxation and enjoyment, but they can not offer the combination of depth and social interaction that MMORPG’s in Wii games can provide.  Character progression is the essential ingredient letting you concentrate on the aspects of the game you enjoy without worrying about those you don’t.

Every character starts with similar levels and skills, but quickly you will personalize your character meaning few others will be exactly like you.

If you love playing computer games then try an MMORPG.  Once you start playing you will never look back.

The top three driving games

April 22, 2009 · Filed Under Tech News · Comment

There are several ways you can buy a car whether it’s from a retailer or contract hire. In a way the same goes for the way games are made, they can be realistic, pc usable or put on a console, whether their there for a laugh or not what is the best driving game?

The game that comes into my head first is not what you would expect from a driving game. Easily the most unrealistic driving game ever made. Got to be in the top three of all time and not just my personal opinion, its Mario Kart. Mario Kart proves that you dont have to have a game that looks amazing to be able to have fun with it. You have a lot of choice in the characters, karts and bikes you can have in the game. Seeing someone get hit by a giant shell or run over by you when you are giant is the most satisfying element of playing Mario Kart and is what makes it so good.

Another great game is the fantastic Forza 2 on Xbox 360. This game is brilliant as it not only looks very realistic you can play it online as well as choose every single part of the car from the paint to the engine. When playing this game you take realistic damage and as well as this you have to make pit stops to change fuel and tyres. Ranging from the Golf GT right the way up to the Lotus Elise this game has hundreds of cars to choose from. If you are using a wheel then the handling of the game becomes even more realistic. Going at 100mph round one of the games corners and you are going to see your car spin out of control and hit many others along the way.

Another good driving game is one of the Grand Turismo games as they look simply brilliant. These games have always been known for their reality and number five certainly does not steer away from this. The cars im the game look exactly the same as you would see them looking at them through a showroom window.

The same is true in real life. Some of the cars you can get are at quite affordable prices. You can get car contracting on pretty much any model nowadays ranging from mini’s right the way to Mercedes contract hire. They really are a great way to beat the downturn with prices under £300 a month you cant really go wrong.

Even though games show us all these brilliant cars and even though every car manufacturer is having huge sales, it is still expensive to buy a new car.

Can the Wii get more people into golf and other sports?

April 4, 2009 · Filed Under Tech News · Comment

As long as the game is nt Tiger Woods 09 as that game is quite possibly the worst game of the entire series. A well made game for the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3, they really only apply to the people who enjoy sporting games over the shooters and others. With the new MotionPlus technology in place it means I will certainly be buying the new game for my Wii over my Xbox and PS3. What is pushing me to even consider this? It’s certainly not because I’m saving money on electric golf trolleys that’s for sure. However it is in fact due to Nintendo facing that in fact their motion sensing technology however amazing it is to five year olds, it just doesn’t work as well as it should. I wont go into how much of a disappointment Nintendo have been over the last 3-4 years however with the invention of the MotionPlus attachment for the Wii remote this makes the game respond to how you move, something which should have been researched into more before the console was released.

When the weather is grim and there is no way that you are going to be able to get out and play on the local course all you have to do is turn the Wii on and you can get going without even having to brave any of the weather. The game does show a great insight into how difficult the game actually is from choosing the right club to deciding what the wind direction is and getting all the stress a real golfer is.

The new game which is due out later this year will sell more than than last years edition that much is certain. Many people who are rubbish at the sport including myself can find that this is easier to use and even if you still fail at least it is in the safety of your living room and not in the middle of the golf course. A great bonus to having this game is that you can swear and shout as loud as you want without the worry of someone kicking you of the course for being too loud! Although watching someone fail to hit the ball very far on the Wii will be amusing it certainly will not be anywhere close to when I was an assistant greenkeeper at my local golf course and took great pleasure in watching some of the golfers fail miserably.
The best thing of all is that you no longer have to charge golf batteries up, just walk into the room, pick up the remote and have a game!

How I Get My Sons Away From The Television

March 2, 2009 · Filed Under Tech News · Comment

All my kids talk about getting every year for Christmas is video games if they don’t go downstairs and find Gears of War 2 under our new flocked christmas tree I do not know how they will survive. This drives me a little crazy since I like to encourage my kids to go outside. I would much rather give them a pair of new skates or golf clubs then some mind numbing thing that will enchant them in front of the television. Oh well I guess you just learn that kids are kids. Arguing with the boys over “appropriate” lengths of time is just too much work.

After saying that I guess I should get to the point that I’ve developed a few ways to control their television addiction. I do a couple of things in an effort to force them outside. First off I limit their time every day to one hour (they can earn more). I have discovered that limiting the time is key to everything else because then they know time above and beyond that is to be earned. I do give them some ways to earn more time in front of the television. That leads me into my second trick. They can get more television time by either doing chores or spending time outside. I like the chores option because it is nice for me to have a few less things to do, and the reward for them isn’t bad either. I intentionally made it with the purpose of them getting around one hour of television time for every one hour they spend on chores.

The number two way they get more television time is by spending some of their time outside. For every hour they spend outside they get fifteen minutes of video games. I know that it isn’t a huge payoff for the boys, but they like being outside and I do not think it’s a lot for me to ask of them. This mostly pays off for them on weekends. They spend all day outside on Saturdays and earn themselves a couple of hours in front of the television. Realistically a night of playing games and watching movies isn’t so bad after a full day outside.

Anyway I guess that I don’t mind a game or two under the artificial flocked christmas tree this year , that is if it allows for the positives of getting the boys outside and making them a little more obedient. I hope they like their games, because I am going to like my “gift” of a little more control around the house.
