Best Game Of 2008

February 2, 2009 · Filed Under Tech News · Comment

As the year of 2008 comes into it’s final, coldest month it’s good to have a look back and see what brilliant game releases there were, and mainly, choose which one of these was the best game of 2008.

Throughout the whole year we’ve had some brilliant game releases on the Xbox 360, Playstation 3, Nintendo Wii and other consoles, however, I would have to say that the later part of the year seemed to be the best, with dozens on games being released in the months of September to November, it really has kept me and millions of gamers busy this year.

Here are just a few of the awesome games that have been released in the past year:

Lost Odyssey - I thought this game was pretty good, although the combat of the game was not my favorite it was still good gameplay, but also, extremely long, 4 disks, really took some time to get through it all.

Condemned 2 - Even though the game is rather brutal and not for the feint of hear, the complex puzzles and hand to hand combat makes the game really good. The game can get rather tense and dark at times which really pulls you into the game.

Battlefield: Bad Company - Bad Company is my favorite Battlefield game so far simply because it’s the only one with an actual campaign. I thought the ability blow up a hole in a building was awesome, you could run any direction at a building and make your very own door.

Lego Indiance Jones - I am a great fan of every Lego game, they are fun to play, especially as a group. Although the Lego games are short, the humour and gameplay to them is brilliant.

Lego Batman - Basically the same as Lego Indiana, but still an awesome game, this one featured some new things never seen before in other Lego games. Every one of the Lego games have been great fun to play and they are all fun for the whole family.

Civilization Revolution - I only played this game a few times on the Xbox 360 but I thought it was amazing, alot different from any other Civilization game.

Devil May Cry 4 - Alot of people have said that this game is great, but I don’t see how it is. I played the demo on the Xbox 360 and thought, “hmm, alot of jumping”. I thought the game was extremely repetitive, not my cup of tea.

Mario Kart Wii - Even though I am not a great fan of the Mario games, I did enjoy playing this one. Especially when you use the Wii steering wheel, you can have great fun with the game whether you’re in a party or not, a great game for every Wii lover.

GRID - I never thought this game was very good, yes the graphics were great but because you could rewind time if you crashed, I thought that spoilt it.

Burnout Paradise - The only problem with this game is that it’s repetitive, you do alot of races and then get a new license, once you get that license you have to repeat all of the races again, just a little bit harder to get another license. Although the game was great for a drive around, the whole campaign got slightly tiresome after a while.

Super Smash Bros. Brawl - Even though I only played the game once or twice it was great fun. The simple controls and fast gameplay makes it really fun to play as a party. The ability to jump around as Pikachu or Kirby makes the game really funny and entertaining, a great party play game.

Metal Gear Solid 4 - Although this game has alot of cut scenes, which can be rather lengthy, the bit where you get to play are brilliant, I thought the graphics were top notch and the story line great, when you got to play it that is.

Rock Band - Amazing, I have always loved the Guitar Hero games, but when this was released I just had to get it, I loved the set list and loved the new instruments, amazing game and a must play for any music game lover.

Rock Band 2- Just like Rock Band 1 just with an even better set list and a wider range of songs, really great fun and everyone should have a go.

Guitar Hero World Tour - This game, like with Rock Band is a wicked game, the new instruments were brilliant but I thought the set list really dragged it down, it depends on your taste but I wasn’t amazed by it.

Grand Theft Auto 4 - You can’t really complain about this game, all of the other GTA’s have been awesome but this one managed to top the lot. Outstanding graphics and the ability to change the way the game ends depending on the choices you make just makes it even better. Plus with the addition of new content coming next year, the game just gets deeper and better.

World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King - Most likely only World of Warcraft players will want to read this one, it was a great game, with a new level cap, new raid cotent, a new class and new professions. This game will keep me busy for many following months.

Gears of War 2 - Amazing, just that one word needed really. The graphics of this game were absolutely amazing and the storyline was mind blowing, it’s continuous action with non stop blood. This is a must have game for any Xbox 360 owner.

Star Wars: The Force Unleashed - Although there was alot of hype before this game came out, when it was released, I was not amazingly impressed. The whole gameplay and look of the game was brilliant but the length of the stroyline and with no online play, the game was over with a few days, now it just sits on the shelf.

Left 4 Dead - If you loved games like Counter Strike and Half Life, you will love this, it’s made by the same people, Valve, but this time it’s based on zombies. You and 3 other team mates have to battle your way out of the city. I personally like the emphasis on team work within the game, plus every gun and weapon is really realistic.

Fable 2 - In one way this game was awesome and in another is was ok. The entire storyline, gameplay, graphics and the ability to change the game by the decisions you make. But the length and difficulty of the game was a let down, I found it to be alot shorter than the original Fable and it was also alot easier as you didn’t seem to face any major bosses. Although it has it’s downsides I still say it’s a great game.

Mirror’s Edge - Some people might think that this game is poor, but I don’t, I thought it was brilliant, just like Assassins Creed, which I loved. I thought Mirror’s Edge was a brilliant game, the graphics of the game were outstanding, although I didn’t think much of the cut scenes, they looked rather cheap comic book stuff, the gameplay was awesome and it’s just a whole new style of game.

Far Cry 2 - There is one major problem with this game, once you start to play, you can’t stop for several hours. The whole storyline and ability to change the game as you play is great, plus having to battle with malaria, brings a whole new dimension to the game. You have a wide range of weapons to choose from all to help you gain an advantage on your enemies, plus the game features are awesome. All these things make it a brilliant game, one of the best.

Call of Duty 5: World of War - This game had alot to live up to, it had to beat CoD4 which one a number of awards this year. I personally didn’t like CoD5 as much as 4 because it went back to the World Wars. But that aside, the gameplay and graphics were great, although it didn’t quite live up to the reputation left by CoD4.

All of the games listed above were really fun to play and kept me entertained all year round but it’s come to tell you what my game of the year is, although it’s a really difficult decision. I would personally have to say that because of the amazing fights and constant action, I would say that Gears of War 2 is my game of 2008. What’s your game of the year?

Caribbean Holidays and All Inclusive Holidays are always relaxing during the Winter.

The name Playstation has become synonymous with an all-round entertainment system in recent years. Sony’s megahit games console revolutionized the way games are played and digital files are enjoyed. If you’re after a complete gaming system that allows you to play a wide variety of games, watch movies and store your digital files, then the Playstation 3 is exactly what you need in your life. The Playstation 3 is the latest version of Sony’s superb gaming system that combines all of this and more.

The Playstation 3 is the third generation of the groundbreaking Sony gaming system, and was designed to build on the highly advanced technology of the first two incarnations. The Playstation 3 came to market in the United States in the Autumn of 2006 and quickly sold out in stores across the world. In the first 24 hours of being onsale, the system sold nearly 100,000 units.

There’s a Playstation 3 to fit every gamer’s needs. Playstation 3 is available with a variety of memory capacities. The 20GB contains the lowest memory capacity. The memory capacity then increases to 40GB, 60 GB, 80 GB, all the way up to 160 GB. Some accessories that come standard with each system are controllers, USB cables and connection cords. You can even enjoy movies by using your Playstation 3 as a movie player: it also works as a Blu-Ray disc player. Instead of purchasing an expensive Blu-Ray player, you can simply use your Playstation 3.

Like previous versions of the console, Playstation 3 comes with the option to buy additional accessories that depend on your own interests. If you’d like to use your Playstation 3 as a one-stop multimedia system, feel free. You can purchase a TV tuner, digital recorder and other add-ons designed for use exclusively with your Playstation 3 unit.

If you want to use your Playstation 3 just for gaming, then there is certainly a massive range of games to choose from. The Playstation 3 has its own versions of loads of very popular games, including modern day classics such as Halo, Guitar Hero and even Grand Theft Auto. Playstation 3 has already earned its place in the video games pantheon, and quite rightly so. With such versatility, the possibilities are nigh on endless.

Cheap Playstation 3

Tips On How To Find A Cheap PlayStation 3

Since late 2006 the Sony PlayStation 3 has been available to American consumers who thought nothing of standing and waiting in long lines in front of stores for hours on end, in hopes to be lucky enough to find one PS3 still on the shelves. As you may expect, the demand for the PlayStation 3 far exceeded the supply therefore trying to find a reasonably priced PlayStation 3, is not easy, and chances are that you will end up having to pay quite a steep price for whichever PS3 becomes available to you.

Where to Find a PlayStation 3 at a Reasonable Price

Since the retail pricing of the PS3 has increased so rapidly in the past few years, it is rare to be able to find a PlayStation 3 at a good price, at least not in retail stores. Other options to purchase one would be at any number of the online sites, local newspapers in the classified section, magazines and by finding individuals selling PS3s.

Finding a cheap PlayStation 3 will require that you expend a great deal of energy and effort in looking for a good deal and it is certainly a lot more involved than just signing up as a registrant who is pre-ordering. No doubt, at one time it was best to pre-order the PS3 since it gave you a good chance of at least being able to buy one at the advertised price. This allowed you to reserve a console, which was important because they were limited to one per household but before you could reserve one you had to make a down payment.

Unfortunately, many people were not able to take advantage of the pre-registration process, while others were not in a position to make the down payment required during preordering a console. People then had the task of beginning to look for stores advertising the PlayStation 3 on sale, which then lead to long lines being formed outside of retail stores, with people hoping to be among the first to actually get to purchase a PlayStation 3 of their own.

Soon it became evident that some people were buying up extra PlayStation 3 consoles not for themselves or as a gift, but with the main intent of selling them on eBay or other online auction sites. What that meant was that if you were willing to try hard enough you would still find it possible to get hold of a cheap PlayStation 3, provided you were also adept at making winning bids and were good at negotiating favorable deals.

There is another good option for finding a cheap PlayStation 3 which is to look for one on Craigslist, where local sellers generally will give you an option to buy the PlayStation 3 at a good price. No doubt, it will mean that you must also be competitive and willing to face challenges. Though, at the same time it is also a lot of fun as well. Don’t let your eagerness to find a PlayStation 3 at a good price be something that over steps your good judgment, because if you put your guard down of the traps set by unlawful sellers you could end up in a bad situation.

In addition, never exceed your budget when purchasing a PlayStation 3. If you feel that the price is not what a cheap PlayStation 3 should cost, then simply pass the offer by.

'Home' for the Playstation has been hacked

January 2, 2009 · Filed Under Tech News · Comment

The new virtual world for the Playstation 3, ‘Home’ has been hacked by commited computer terrorists. Developers have found an intricate way to access the Playstation software in order to allow the to customise their own Playstation home experience beyond the options provided by Sony and their development team.

The Playstation ‘Home’ experience was launched on December 11th and is a completely virtual world that provides Playstation users with a three dimensional social gaming space to interact and communicate with other online players at the same time. You can do anything from go to the movies, go swimming, take a strole or even go on a date.

The hack itself is a combination of pointing the apache web server and re-directing the DNS to their own where they then can display their own films to watch and listen to their own music within the virtual world. The second hack that was established, allowed the user to download material directly off of the Playstation servers such as other user information such as avatars and the cartoon like representation of themselves as they appear within the virtual world.
However the most worrying vulnerability of the Playstation 3 ‘Home’ system is that any user can upload or delete any file on the Playstation servers which could result in mass chaos. Any web savvy user will notice this flaw and the consequences could literally be harmful to any user who is online. Yet there is growing speculation that Sony has deliberately opened its virtual doors to developers in order to let people develop user generated software for the ‘Home’ system. Having an official avenue for ‘Hacks’ and ‘Tweaks’ could prevent more serious and potentially damaging hacking attempts from other hackers, and could also be used to build an ecosystem of users and developers around the ‘Home’ platform. This would surely be a very risky but clever idea from the developers at Sony. I have seen the new ‘Home’ system within a Playstation 3 and it is absolutely incredible!

Excellent tableware. Reliable wine rack.
