We all know that buying video games is not cheap. At around £40 each for games, going even higher if you buy the limited editions, because of this, making a game last as long as possible and keeping it fresh is becoming ever more important. This is where downloadable content pops up. Many games these days are releasing additional content for you to buy and download. Here are just a few to be aware of it you are continuously looking at your games looking for something new.
If you are a hardcore fan of the Halo franchise but are getting slightly tired of the bog standard maps that come with the game, maybe it’s time to buy some extra Microsoft points and get your hands on some of the new map packs. There are currently 3 downloadable packs with new maps, there is the Cold Storage Map which is a single map and this one is free, then there is the Heroic Map Pack and the Legendary Map Pack which both cost 800 Microsoft Points. Both of the 800 points packs come with new achievements for you unlock. However, if you already have these, then you’ll be pleased to know that there is a brand new pack coming out on April 9th which yet again will cost 800 MS points.
Just like Halo 3, the guys at Epic have released a bunch of new maps for the amazing Gears of War 2 game. The next 2 packs both costs 800 Microsoft Points and they are called the Combustible Multiplayer Map Pack which contains 3 new maps and also the brand new Snowblind Multiplayer Map Pack.

It’s called the Pure Time Trials Pack and will costs you 800 MS points, and what you get for your money is 9 new time trials across 7 whole new areas, there are no cops and no guns to slow you down, just pure agility maps that push you to the limit and get you playing at your best. Like the others, there are a few new achievements for you to get with this pack.
The final game in the post is going to be the massively popular, Fallout 3. This has 2 new packs that extend the games campaign and allows you to fight new foes with new weapons in new areas. Both of these packs cost 800 MS points, the first one is The Pitt, this one requires you to travel to Pittsburgh, now called The Pitt, and uncover the secret that has caused the people of The Pitt to be attacked by disease and mutation. The second pack is the Operation: Anchorage pack which takes you into the military campaign where you have to fight against Chinese Communist Invaders, but you can leave your old weapons behind as you can get your hands on some of the new gear available like the Gauss Rifle.

Video game rating were unheard of when I was younger. You see the images were not very good and the games were not very hard. A video game rating system was not needed at the time. Since there wasn’t anything very violent or graphic to rate at that time!
Today, everything has changed a lot. Video game reviews and ratings are big business. You see, the video game business has grown immensely in the last 20 years. It used to be something for nerdy teenage and pre-teen boys, but today everybody from elementary school students to pros play video games. Video game magazines are very popular today and game stores sell massive amounts of games every year.
All of this brought about a brand new video game ratings business. Movie and video game ratings are pretty much the same. They are pretty self explanatory. By and large on the box it tells you whether it is desirable for teens, all audiences, or only adult users. It will even tell you what content the video game has that might not be geared for younger viewers. This usually means violent or adult content is involved.
Believe it or not, video game reviews are as important to a potential buyer as ratings are nowadays. Of the hundreds of video games that are produced each year most of them aren’t worth a plug nickel. The first person shooter has become such a lucrative platform that it has brought into being a whole industry of basically the same kind of games. Don’t get me wrong – there are plenty of very good first person shooters, but there are also plenty that are derivative and redundant. Take the time and make sure this is the best one for you you before you spend your hard earned cash. Otherwise, you’ll be unsatisfied and have to go out and buy another one.
The great thing about video game ratings and reviews is that they cover everything in so much detail. A lot of them deal with issues of playability, graphics, storyline, addictiveness, and other areas as well. That way, you can understand everything about a game before you start playing it. It’s very important that you look at the video game ratings before you plunk down your hard earned cash. That way you’ll get you money’s worth out of the deal. Don’t buy something just because it has good screen shots. You will never know if it is a fantastic game until you to try it out or read about it.
Make sure you check out the ratings on your favorite video games for the Nintendo Game Cube to be certain they are the best thing for your household.
