Death Knights –The World of Warcraft’s true heroes

The Death Knight class is the newest class in the World of Warcraft. With the expansion ‘Wrath of the Lich King’ from 2008 this class became available to all WoW players. In the World of Warcraft, the DKs were introduced as a “Hero” class. It must be said however, that the Death Knight class is not stronger than other classes.

DKs’ system of attack is based on their runic power. They have two runes with a cooldown at their disposal for any attack and spell. The DK has three different types of runes: two Frost, Blood, and Unholy. Same goes for the talent trees a DK has – Frost, Blood and Unholy.

A Death Knight wears plate armor, deals melee damage and has several spells that can be cast from distance as well.  A Death Knight can fulfill the role of a damage dealer and tank in a group or raid. They can wield one-handed and two-handed weapons but cannot equip a shield.

If you want to create a DK you will need to have another level 70 char in possession. You will start leveling a DK at level 55 which will make your journey a lot easier. Another nice thing is that your DK will start with bags, some money and green gear.

Your DK char will start in the Eastern Plaguelands area - The Ebon Hold. When you start you will be on the side of the Lich King. He will command you where to go and which quests to do. By completing the quests in this area you will receive your talent points and better gear. Your DK starts at level 55 without the talent points which you will be able to get by completing the quests.

At the level 58 the quest chain you were on will change its course. Your char will manage to escape and he/she will join the enemies of the Lich King. After this scenario you can go anywhere you please and it is advised that you continue your adventure in the Outlands where you can continue leveling. You will enter the Outlands with all your talent points, full blue gear and with a nice piece of lore behind you.

When it comes to primary professions a Death Knight is no different than any other class. You can of course choose any profession but there are several professions that fit a Death Knight well. When it comes to most of the characters, Enchanting is a nice and useful profession to have because you will be able to enchant your rings. Since ring enchants are only available for the Enchanter himself it is nice for any character. A wise choice when it comes to primary professions could also be a combination of Jewelcrafting and Mining. Because a lot of gear has sockets at later levels this is a nice profession. With JC you will be able to craft other pieces of Jewelry as well, for example necklaces. Blacksmithing is also a good option because you will be able to make plate gear. Best accompanied by the Mining profession, you can also use Blacksmithing to make sockets in your gloves and wrists.

The DK class is very fun to play. A Death Knight class has no down points. The only thing that might bother you is that almost everyone has made a DK simply because you start at level 55 and it is fairly easy to level a char from there on.
