So, that said, here are some of the games that you should be looking forward to throughout the next coming months and the entire year really.

• Residient Evil 5 is the first one really worth mentioning, however, I personally won’t be buying this game, I just find it stupid how you can’t move and shoot or reload and shoot, but that’s just my opinion. I know that when this one comes out on March Friday 13th, it will be a massive hit.
• Crysis: Maximum Edition – This isn’t a new game, but a box set of all the games rolled into one, you get Crysis, Crysis Warhead and Crysis Wars (the multiplayer) and if you haven’t yet played any of them, that will be the perfect box set for you. The game is due for release on March 20th.
• Singstar: Queen – March 20th.
• Aliens Colonial Marines. Not much has been said or relesed about this one, but my hopes are high for it. Odd release dates though for it, March 27th for PC and then unconfirmed for PS3 and Xbox 360.
• Batman: Arkam Asylum. Me being a Batman fan I hope this is going to be a good one. By the looks of the trailer you have to fight your way around the asylum. Looks like separate release dates for PS3 and 360, not convinced though.
• The Godfather 2 – 10/04
• The Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena. If you coulnd’t put down the first Chronicles of Riddick game, then you should love this one. with voices of Vin Diesel and still with a bit of FPS and hand combat involved, it should be a good game. Hitting the shops on April 24th.
• Fuel – I have only seen a few screenshots for this one, and it looks alot like the PS3 game, Motorstorm. I just hope that it’s going to be a good racing game.
• X Men Origins: Wolverine. We’ll just have to wait and see if this is going to be a good one as it’s a move game, some can be good and some can be poor.
• Terminator Salvation – 22/05
• Prototype – A strange one, you play as a genetically modified person who now has super powers, might be good. Set for release in June 2009
• Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell: Conviction – This game has been in development for a long long time so it really carries alot of expectations but lets hope it will be released when they say this time, June 2009.
• The Sims 3 – Although alot of people play the Sims games, I hate them, simply because I think they have milked it too much. The amount of expansions they have is insane, but I know people will buy it so here it is in the list.
• Ghostbusters – Who ya gonna call? June 19th
• Dirt 2 – 9/09
• Tekken 6 – 25/09
• Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 – This game was only announced recently but it will definitely be a massive hit, with the amount of Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare’s sold and the amount of awards it picked up, this sequel will hopefully be even better.
• Battlefield: Bad Company 2

It looks like a pretty good upcoming year for games. Hopefully no game publishers or developers will go bust, fingers crossed.

Sony’s new social networking community, Playstation Home, has now gone live in it’s beta stages.

PlayStation Home is a new social networking site, it’s free to use for any Playstation 3 owner and it allows them to create an avatar, join other players in online games, chat, create and furnish their own apartment and soon the ability to stream music and video.

The release of their virtual clubhouse comes after news that Sony has announced that they are planning on several thousand job cuts. However, their new social networking community, Playstation Home, could help to bring in some extra needed cash. Ideas have been floating around in their heads that they can soon start to offer different apartments to buy, new cloths and start selling advertising on the various billboards and screens around the site.

One big reason why the PlayStation Home has been released now is to try and sway some of the potential customers over the Christmas period. Sony is attempting to compete with Microsoft’s latest Xbox Live update where Xbox owners can create new avatars and play social games together.

However, will the new social networking community be enough to sway the minds of buyers? I do not think so. Simply because the Playstation now has Playstation Home, I don’t think it would be enough to sway the minds of buyers, considering the Playstation us still pricey compared to the Xbox.

By hunting a bit, you can get an Xbox 360 with 4 games and 2 controllers for around £130, however, if your after a Playstation 3, it will set you back £270 for only 3 games.

Although the idea of Playstation Home is good, especially for current PS3 owners who want to interact with their games more, I don’t think it will sway the minds of potential buyers until Sony cut prices. So, good try Sony, but I don’t think you’ll have much luck.

In an interview with Gamesindustry.biz, Peter Molyneux, creater of Fable, hinted that Xbox 360 owners could soon be seeing full game downloads onto your Xbox.

Within the interview, he said “I think it would be a great thing for this studio to work on. I can’t say anything else of it – I would be killed to death”.

At the moment, you can download some games from Xbox Live and the Playstation Network, however, the games available are limited to older titles and ones that take up less hard drive space.

Although some people may think that this idea is brilliant, the reality will being them out of the clouds.
At the moment, if you were to download a full Xbox game onto your hard drive, it would steal around 6GB of space and take a very long time to download.

Even though these problems could be worked around, with the Xbox 360 Elite coming with a 120GB hard drive, and the ability to download the games overnight, there are still other problems that would need to be considered.

Firstly, the second hand market would vanish, as there would be no second hand games, the prices of new games would not go down.
Also, because the games would take around 6GB of space each, the hard drive space would be drained quickly, with a 120GB hard drive only taking around 20 games with a rather large price tag of £100, many people will not like to dish out their dosh.
This will all lead to many people deleting their games, they won’t want to pay for a new hard drive just to play a new game, and because of that, many people will become more choosy when it comes to buying a game.

Plus, the idea wouldn’t work for arcade system owners as they have no hard drive which would require Microsoft to include one, which would drive up prices.

Even though there are many downsides to full game downloads, there is one upside to the idea. Because the game would be online, the prices of them may go down as there would be no costs for packaging.

Overall, I thought the idea to be rather pointless. The only advantage I can see is that you don’t have to leave your house, but if your order online, you don’t do that anyway, plus the post would probably be faster than download.

As the year of 2008 comes into it’s final, coldest month it’s good to have a look back and see what brilliant game releases there were, and mainly, choose which one of these was the best game of 2008.

Throughout the whole year we’ve had some brilliant game releases on the Xbox 360, Playstation 3, Nintendo Wii and other consoles, however, I would have to say that the later part of the year seemed to be the best, with dozens on games being released in the months of September to November, it really has kept me and millions of gamers busy this year.

Here are just a few of the awesome games that have been released in the past year:

Lost Odyssey – I thought this game was pretty good, although the combat of the game was not my favorite it was still good gameplay, but also, extremely long, 4 disks, really took some time to get through it all.

Condemned 2 – Even though the game is rather brutal and not for the feint of hear, the complex puzzles and hand to hand combat makes the game really good. The game can get rather tense and dark at times which really pulls you into the game.

Battlefield: Bad Company – Bad Company is my favorite Battlefield game so far simply because it’s the only one with an actual campaign. I thought the ability blow up a hole in a building was awesome, you could run any direction at a building and make your very own door.

Lego Indiance Jones – I am a great fan of every Lego game, they are fun to play, especially as a group. Although the Lego games are short, the humour and gameplay to them is brilliant.

Lego Batman – Basically the same as Lego Indiana, but still an awesome game, this one featured some new things never seen before in other Lego games. Every one of the Lego games have been great fun to play and they are all fun for the whole family.

Civilization Revolution – I only played this game a few times on the Xbox 360 but I thought it was amazing, alot different from any other Civilization game.

Devil May Cry 4 – Alot of people have said that this game is great, but I don’t see how it is. I played the demo on the Xbox 360 and thought, “hmm, alot of jumping”. I thought the game was extremely repetitive, not my cup of tea.

Mario Kart Wii – Even though I am not a great fan of the Mario games, I did enjoy playing this one. Especially when you use the Wii steering wheel, you can have great fun with the game whether you’re in a party or not, a great game for every Wii lover.

GRID – I never thought this game was very good, yes the graphics were great but because you could rewind time if you crashed, I thought that spoilt it.

Burnout Paradise – The only problem with this game is that it’s repetitive, you do alot of races and then get a new license, once you get that license you have to repeat all of the races again, just a little bit harder to get another license. Although the game was great for a drive around, the whole campaign got slightly tiresome after a while.

Super Smash Bros. Brawl – Even though I only played the game once or twice it was great fun. The simple controls and fast gameplay makes it really fun to play as a party. The ability to jump around as Pikachu or Kirby makes the game really funny and entertaining, a great party play game.

Metal Gear Solid 4 – Although this game has alot of cut scenes, which can be rather lengthy, the bit where you get to play are brilliant, I thought the graphics were top notch and the story line great, when you got to play it that is.

Rock Band – Amazing, I have always loved the Guitar Hero games, but when this was released I just had to get it, I loved the set list and loved the new instruments, amazing game and a must play for any music game lover.

Rock Band 2- Just like Rock Band 1 just with an even better set list and a wider range of songs, really great fun and everyone should have a go.

Guitar Hero World Tour – This game, like with Rock Band is a wicked game, the new instruments were brilliant but I thought the set list really dragged it down, it depends on your taste but I wasn’t amazed by it.

Grand Theft Auto 4 – You can’t really complain about this game, all of the other GTA’s have been awesome but this one managed to top the lot. Outstanding graphics and the ability to change the way the game ends depending on the choices you make just makes it even better. Plus with the addition of new content coming next year, the game just gets deeper and better.

World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King – Most likely only World of Warcraft players will want to read this one, it was a great game, with a new level cap, new raid cotent, a new class and new professions. This game will keep me busy for many following months.

Gears of War 2 – Amazing, just that one word needed really. The graphics of this game were absolutely amazing and the storyline was mind blowing, it’s continuous action with non stop blood. This is a must have game for any Xbox 360 owner.

Star Wars: The Force Unleashed – Although there was alot of hype before this game came out, when it was released, I was not amazingly impressed. The whole gameplay and look of the game was brilliant but the length of the stroyline and with no online play, the game was over with a few days, now it just sits on the shelf.

Left 4 Dead – If you loved games like Counter Strike and Half Life, you will love this, it’s made by the same people, Valve, but this time it’s based on zombies. You and 3 other team mates have to battle your way out of the city. I personally like the emphasis on team work within the game, plus every gun and weapon is really realistic.

Fable 2 – In one way this game was awesome and in another is was ok. The entire storyline, gameplay, graphics and the ability to change the game by the decisions you make. But the length and difficulty of the game was a let down, I found it to be alot shorter than the original Fable and it was also alot easier as you didn’t seem to face any major bosses. Although it has it’s downsides I still say it’s a great game.

Mirror’s Edge – Some people might think that this game is poor, but I don’t, I thought it was brilliant, just like Assassins Creed, which I loved. I thought Mirror’s Edge was a brilliant game, the graphics of the game were outstanding, although I didn’t think much of the cut scenes, they looked rather cheap comic book stuff, the gameplay was awesome and it’s just a whole new style of game.

Far Cry 2 – There is one major problem with this game, once you start to play, you can’t stop for several hours. The whole storyline and ability to change the game as you play is great, plus having to battle with malaria, brings a whole new dimension to the game. You have a wide range of weapons to choose from all to help you gain an advantage on your enemies, plus the game features are awesome. All these things make it a brilliant game, one of the best.

Call of Duty 5: World of War – This game had alot to live up to, it had to beat CoD4 which one a number of awards this year. I personally didn’t like CoD5 as much as 4 because it went back to the World Wars. But that aside, the gameplay and graphics were great, although it didn’t quite live up to the reputation left by CoD4.

All of the games listed above were really fun to play and kept me entertained all year round but it’s come to tell you what my game of the year is, although it’s a really difficult decision. I would personally have to say that because of the amazing fights and constant action, I would say that Gears of War 2 is my game of 2008. What’s your game of the year?

I have seen many people give this advice, but it is only a short term solution at best for a few hours more playing time and the unit will eventually overheat again.

If not, put the hard drive back in and your Xbox should now be working fine. Of course you could not bother with any of the above and send your Xbox 360 back to Microsoft. I have heard horror stories of people sending their units to support and receiving their units back months later that have the same problem.

If you want to risk being without your Xbox and you still have your warranty then send it back, however if you can´t wait that long then give these Xbox 360 troubleshooting tips a try.

Be aware that if they go wrong you could ruin your Xbox and lose your warranty so be cautious when following these tips.
