XBOX 360 Repairs & YouTube
Having a problem with your XBOX 360? Did you get the dreded 3 red rings or some type of unreadable disc error? Perhaps it’s something now so drastic and your disc drive won’t open and shut properly. Some of these issues and their possible solutions happen to be posted via videos at places like You Tube.
Many people with problems pertaining to the XBOX 360 will turn to YouTube for repair solutions Video solutions like those found on YouTube can be risky and may make things worse rather than better.
One problem with these types of amateur video’s is the low quality of audio and video as well as poor advice that can cause someone to accidently break their XBOX 360 for good. Often you will find that videos have some minimally useful comments. I say minimally because you really do not know who’s commenting and the motivations behind the comments. It could be the actual video producer, not a real user for all we know. Or it could be someone who’s XBOX 360 was temporarily fixed, they left a comment after fixing it, only to realize a few weeks later that it didn’t solve their problem when the RROD’s came back.
There is a very common problem with the XBOX 360 disc drive. The problem ranges from the disc drive not opening to problems that prevent the laser from reading the disc so it gives an “unreadable disc” error.
Some of the possible reasons for the drive not opening and shutting properly have to do with a little magnet inside the drive that has lost its connection to another area inside the XBOX 360 under the hood. Other problems include the spindle becoming dirty, a little spring that doesn’t fit properly in it’s housing area, and the rubber bumper becoming stuck preventing the drive from properly ejecting the disc.
Those are just a few problems. There are also many YouTube solutions to these problems. One of them includes placing a hair band on the little rubber bumper, which you would think most people would be smart enough to know a bad idea when they see it. Unfortunetly a lot of people trust the producers of these Video’s to solve their problems as if these people really understand the inner workings of such a complex computer part like a motherboard or processor. And that is the problem with watching YouTube video’s to solve your XBOX 360 repair issues.
Okay, so we’ve established YouTube amateur video’s by gamers is not the answer. Paying $149.00 for Microsoft to fix it is also not the answer unless you want to wait 2 to four weeks and have a lot of money to burn. If you can follow directions clearly written in a step by step manor, and if you can watch a video and follow along making sure to listen to each step, then I have a very inexpensive answer for you.
